Chuan Fit And Increased Agility

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I wanted to talk to you all about something that most people do not consider when they exercise. When I speak to people ( or most likely, when they approach me ) I often ask them what it is they are training or exercising for. While I would love to say that more often than not it was for profound spiritual and emotional health,  or for creating optimal physical health, it usually goes along the lines of ” I need to lose “x” amount of weight.”  That is when I begin to quote one of my favorite moves, the Sandlot. Check this out if you haven’t seen it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs73-eVBu6I.

I’m sorry for that, I couldn’t resist. Anyhow, the one thing that I don’t think that I have ever heard without prompting is that a person is training to improve their agility. For the nerd in me, let me give the dictionary definition of agility. It is defined as: The ability to move quickly and easily. Lots of folks say that they want to “get toned.” I consider that to be the most vague and useless common expression I know. I often hear, that they want to be able to do “x” amount of push ups or sit ups. I don’t hear people discussing the need for improved agility.

I’m here to tell you that agility is important. Now, it is cool to be able to do back flips and tumble and what not, but agility for the average person is more than that, it is about being able to perform all of the functions of our daily lives smoothly, easily and without any type of discomfort. We all need to bend, duck, stretch and twist for some reason or another. More importantly, agility is important to help you prevent injury. I know people that have stepped off of the sidewalk at an odd angle and broke their foot. I know someone who injured their hip because a cat ran across their path while riding a bike, and they fell Chuan Fit helps you to be able to move in such a way that none of the common ( or uncommon ) postures that you may find yourself in will injure you. Chuan Fit is your key to smooth movement, and dare I say, even graceful movement. I have been told many times that I must do or know ” something ” because of they way I walk. They usually think I am a dancer. And I have to let them know, that while my groove game is strong, it is Chuan Fit that has got me in touch with my body, and it has made me more agile.

Try Chuan Fit folks, it will give you a whole new sense of your body, and what you can do with it.

5 Quick Tips About Wellness

I just wanted to drop this on you really quickly because often times, folks on the beginning of their wellness path tend to over think how they are going to accomplish their goals.  For those who are not in a place where Chuan Fit is available to you, let me hit you with a few basics.

1-Decide to do something TODAY-NOT tomorrow, NOT when your in-laws finally leave. I mean today. It does not have to be a major thing. The idea is to set yourself up for successful thinking. If you have to get up and walk to the end of the street and back, you have succeeded in taking an action that is good for you. You have done more walking at that point than you have EVER done in your life. Feels good think of it that way doesn’t it? You have set yourself of up for future success.

2-Don’t think that you need a gym to work out. While you may not be able to get your Chuan Fit on, you can certainly get your fitness game up. As a matter of fact,  I am going to be putting up tons of videos just for you. Stuff you can do at home while watching television or you tube. Never let it be said that Anthony does not have your back.

3-Sleep is more important than you think. Now I KNOW that some of us are really busy. But adequate sleep is a thing that I had to work up to doing myself. I get myself to bed at a decent hour after YEARS of NOT doing so. I also stopped reading tweets and Instagram posts for at least an hour before bed. The difference has been that I get better sleep, and have more energy to give you all. Plus, I may or may not have Batman onesie pajamas. Don’t judge me.

4-Bring your own motivation playlist-Let me tell you what I mean. You can either plug in your phone and get your you tube and/or ipod on, OR, and this is better. You can bring someone along with you. You would be amazed how much easier it is with a good friend to go along with you.

5-Make SHORT goals. Don’t look too far ahead. I recommend looking forward only one week at a time, until you YOURSELF notice the improvements. EVERY week that you exercise is a victory. Give yourself a little shout out at the end of every small achievement. If you don’t think little things can make a difference, walk around the block with a Leggo in your shoe :).

5 Lies In The Fitness Industry

Hello everyone,

I do not usually like to dwell in the negative, but there are some pervasive lies out there that are being told in the fitness business on a regular basis. I understand ( but do not condone ) the reason why. But rather, I am going to speak on them, and then give just a little bit of why it is a lie.

1-THIS DIET ( Insert ANY diet here ) is the best way to lose weight. I don’t care what you put here, it is a lie, and I will tell you why. A diet is a shortcut to solving a temporary, short-termed goal. If you are indeed making a life-style change, you are NOT dieting. You are making a life-style change that will benefit you for your entire life.

2-You can only safely and healthily lose 2 pounds a week.I hope you are wearing high boots folks. That is pure cow flops, horse pies, bull sh……….Well, you get the idea. This idea was spread by the fitness for personal trainers. If you have a lot of weight to lose ( no judgement folks, just saying ) it could take quite a long time, and a LOT of money to achieve your goal. Guess who that benefits…..YUP, them, NOT you. Let your body be the guide itself. You will lose what you body deems correct.

3-Sports drinks are better for you than water. WOW, look out folks, we almost stepped in it again. Most sport drinks are FULL of chemicals. To help with flavor, color etc. If you have a hard time drinking a lot of water ( my hand is raised ) then try coconut water, or water infused with cucumber or lemon, or some kind of fruit. Water is just fine folks.

4-I am an expert because I have a ( Insert Certification Name ) . Now, we KNOW that there is a need for standards because we can’t just allow anyone to teach people about there body, and how to improve it safely. In MY humble opinion, anyone who trains another person should have a degree in health, or kinesiology, or something that shows that the person has put in a significant amount of study into the topic. Martial Arts classes get a bit tricky because there is no national standard for Martial Arts. But there should be for physical trainers.

5-The BEST classes are ( Insert Class of Person Who Referred You ) Folks, there is a LOT of ego that goes on in gyms. Everyone wants to convince a client that THEIR class is the best suited for a client. The fact is that there are several factors to consider when choosing classes. I recommend that you try a BUNCH of classes and see what works best for you, and where you feel comfortable.

I could go on, but a deal is a deal, and I said 5. IF you want more, feel free to ask and I will deliver. Until then, have an amazing, happy blessed, fabulous day!
